My First Green Screen Test!
Yesterday, I succeeded in testing out the chroma key effect on the fantastic CyberLink PowerDirector! First, I recorded with my cell phone a short video of my puppet Oscar the Cat against a piece of green construction paper taped on the wall. Then, I emailed the video to myself, downloaded it, and converted into a WMV file (because the free trial version of PowerDirector doesn't take MOV videos). Next, I placed the Oscar video on the PIP track, in front of a pretty stock photo that PowerDirector had. However, when I first checked the chorma key effect, the green background wasn't transparent...until I tried out its eye dropper feature to remove the green. And ta-da! And just this afternoon, I made it into a GIF, so it could be posted onto Ze Blog. It may only be four seconds long, but I feel very proud of my experimenting. Once I buy PowerDirector, and get a brand-new video camera, I'm definately going to create more experimental green screen scenes.
Maybe they'll not be with my puppets and stuffed animals, but I'm also thinking about creating animations on Paint with a green background, then placed them against a photo background or a video, and add the chroma key effect. I love experimenting!
