 Why Ginger Snaps is Here:

Welcome, fellow As Told by Ginger fans! I'm D.J. Berry, young, self-taught, aspiring cartoonist, animator, author, video editor, puppeteer, and obsessive, proud male Ginger fan!

Welcome to the first of several spin-off blogs of my first one (Ze Blog) that I've decided to start!

Well, it has come to this point. Due to my obsession with this great Nicktoon, and since my first blog has about five posts so far dedicated to it, it's best that I start up a seperate blog for what has recently became one of my all time favorite animated series! Now any posts I make related to

this show and its characters are going here. Mixing in with original posts for Ginger Snaps here are

previous Ginger-related posts archived from Ze Blog.

For those unfamiliar with As Told by Ginger, it was the fifth Nickelodeon cartoon from Klasky Csupo (after Rugrats, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, The Wild Thornberrys, and Rocket Power), ran for three seasons between 2000 and 2006 (though production actually ended around 2003), and was as complex and realistic of a slice-of-life Nicktoon as Doug or Hey Arnold!. The premise told quick is a 12-14 year old girl in Connecticut named Ginger Foutley wants to break out of her postition as a school geek, while elsewhere her younger brother Carl has his own weird and cunning adventures. Yeah, I know, its premise doesn't sound too original, but trust me. Once you read more about it on its Wikipedia page, you'll understand how Ginger tries to be groundbreaking amongst other Nicktoons.

So, I've been a huge fan of this coming-of-age Nicktoon since the fall of 2014, appreciating its humor, characters (except for Dodie, Joann, Miranda, Mipsy, Brandon, his monkey, and Principal Milty), storylines, unlimited clothes for the girls, and its relationship with reality. A more fun way to describe this show is: just take Arthur, retain its proficiency in tackling real-life issues, but make the characters ugly human beings, and the protagionists teenage females.

As Told by Ginger is now my most favorite Nicktoon from Klasky Csupo (it used to be Rugrats), my second favorite KC show of any kind (next to The Simpsons, although KC technically didn't create that show, but was only hired to do the first 61 episodes' ugly animation) and currently my fourth favorite Nicktoon of all time (after SpongeBob SquarePants, The Fairly OddParents, and The Ren & Stimpy Show).  However, that's listed by how much I enjoy watching it, because judging by my enthusiasm and the way I've been exposing Ginger on my YouTube, Google+, and my flagship site, it seems like it's my second favorite Nicktoon at least. Maybe it's because the show is so underrated compared to those four other shows. It's also probably the most underrated of Klasky Csupo's six Nicktoons; even All Grown Up! and Rocket Power are more exposed than Ginger! This wonderful series really needs to be recognized some more, and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. If SpongeBob is my most enjoyed Nicktoon, than As Told by Ginger

might be my most respected. Get it? I hope so.

I love Ginger (both the show and title character) so much, and if you do too, then you'll love and recommend this fan blog! Enjoy, Ginger fans! Oh, and I also highly recommend this other blog about the show called As Told by Ginger: Reviewed!, where an aspiring writer (like myself) named Michelle (aka Deebiedoobie)  reviews and analyizes  ATBG episodes. I discovered it on November 2014. Also, Patricia on Old School Lane is a dedicated fan. Check out her "As Told by Ginger Month" videos on YouTube.
